I typically go to Spa Bleu in Barrington, and I don't know what possessed me to try a new place, but I'm regretting that I did. I wanted to get a keratin treatment and a hair trim before I went on vacation. I have long thick hair and I wanted to make it more manageable because it takes forever for me to straighten it. Massage therapists are intrusive and rude. Front desk staff changes often and will yell at you when entering and often do not know how to process your payment. The shower space is dangerous for disabled as there is a board that falls down instead of going down slowly and you can catch a finger in it as it falls. Often the shower is not on and the dials have to be reset by staff to start them. Be careful here. I don’t recommend it.
They wouldn’t accept my cash payment. They did not have a sign anywhere, was not posted online or was not brought up on the phone. Yet, they had no problem taking my cash tip from my hand to their hand. Staff was very unpleasant. Two of the stylists did not have their masks over their noses. I had to wait at the door for the staff member to finish her conversation at the check out desk and then come and check me in. My stylist was also changed on me without any notice.
